Hey, I'm considering upgrading my monitor but not sure if 1080p is enough these days. How does 1080p hold up against larger screen sizes? I mostly do office work and casual gaming. Does DPI scaling affect the experience much? Any insights on the trade-offs between resolution and performance?
Is 1080p resolution still good in 2024?

Honestly, 1080p is still perfectly fine for 24-27" monitors in 2024, especially if you're doing office work and casual gaming. It's not as sharp as 1440p or 4K, but the difference isn't as noticeable on smaller screens unless you're sitting really close. Most modern GPUs (even mid-range ones) handle 1080p with ease, so you get better frame rates without breaking a sweat.
That said, if you're eyeing a larger screen—say 27"+—1080p starts to look a bit pixelated, and DPI scaling can feel clunky. Scaling modes help, but they’re not always perfect. My advice? Stick with 1080p if you're on a tight budget, but if you can swing it, 1440p is the sweet spot for most people—better clarity without a huge GPU hit.
