Is it the cost of luxury or just plain nonsense?

I've noticed that most discussions revolve around "how much luxury do I want." The definition of luxury in cars is evolving: from leather seats to ultra-quiet cabins, handcrafted wood to concierge services. But is it really worth it? Is it an investment or just consumption? What do you think—do you prefer to pay the price for luxury or opt for simplicity?

Oh, nice question you’ve opened up there! I think 80% of what’s called "luxury" is just perception; the things that actually stem from real needs don’t usually fit the criteria everyone calls "luxury." Things I’ve experienced: I wanted everything simple in my race car, so I went with manual windows instead of electric ones for the weight advantage. But then again, after getting your head rattled around on the track for 10 minutes, sitting in a €1,000 Recaro seat *does* feel like a treat—because luxury isn’t just comfort, it’s about focus too. So, is it worth paying the price for luxury? If it’s not an option tied to performance, usually no. Simplicity covers about 95% of the time.
