For insulating the battery, people usually go for lightweight aluminum or graphite casings with heat-resistant rubber edges—they barely add any weight but retain heat far better than plain insulation tape. Compared to traditional fiberglass panels, these casings show about a 30% higher heat retention rate and don’t need extra mounting hardware. Heat barriers for the body are often made from thermal films like X-PEL, which go under the hood and roof liners; they’re lighter and easier to maintain than multi-layer fabric mats and don’t absorb moisture. As for tires, narrow winter tires (195–205 mm) with a high profile give better grip on ice and snow, and their weight is almost half that of all-season 225–235 mm tires—crucial for performance chassis. All-season "big" tires might feel more comfortable, but their grip drops below -5°C, and they put extra stress on the suspension. For brake disc protection, I’d recommend a ceramic compound spray (like CeramicCoat) over regular anti-corrosion oil—ceramic coatings hold up even after repeated heat cycles and don’t need reapplication. Also, check your seals and replace them with PTFE tape if you want to minimize internal corrosion.

For battery protection, it's best to use heat-reflective aluminum foil wrapping—it adds minimal weight but keeps the temperature between +5…+10°C, making cold starts easier. The simplest solution is to buy a ready-made "Battery Warm-Wrap" kit and secure it using the factory mounts after cleaning the terminals. For the body, applying thermal film (a spray-on heat-insulating material) to the front panel, hood, and trunk lid—especially under the windshield—is helpful. The film adds almost no weight and, combined with anti-oxidation coating, reduces condensation and lowers the risk of paint corrosion. As for tires, I prefer narrow winter 195/55R15 (or similar profile) with studs, if regulations allow. Narrow tires have a higher contact angle, improving ice grip and maintaining low inertia during acceleration, while studs ensure braking distance. Wide all-season tires only add weight and reduce traction. To protect brake discs from corrosion, I spray them with a special anti-corrosion product (usually "Brake Disc Protector") after the first wash of the year and warm up the brakes in dry mode for 5–10 minutes before winter to remove moisture. These steps minimize brake issues and help maintain vehicle dynamics even in cold weather.

As for tires, I’ve completely ditched wide all-season tires—they lose grip in cold weather and increase braking distance. Narrow (195–205mm) winter tires with studs or micro-treads provide better traction and reduce rotating mass, which is especially important for high-performance sports cars. For brake disc corrosion protection, I keep it simple: after every winter, I spray an anti-corrosion treatment on the hot discs (up to 200°C), and when parked, I use lightweight aluminum disc covers that don’t affect cooling but protect against moisture and salt. These small measures help maintain efficiency without adding extra weight.
