For city use, I think the economical model is the most logical choice. I've been driving a Renault Clio 1.0 SCe for two years now; it averages 5.4 L/100km in fuel consumption, and thanks to the engine running smoothly at low revs in stop-and-go traffic, it saves fuel and keeps maintenance costs low. In terms of performance, it has a touch of turbo power, but for short city trips, I don’t need anything extra. The suspension is firm yet comfortable, and it offers adequate protection in a crash. Of course, if you're looking for more space and comfort on long trips, the Grand Scenic would be a better pick. But if you're often hunting for parking spots and don’t want to strain your budget with fuel costs, a Clio—or the Zoe (electric) in the same segment—is your best bet.
