Renault's platforms like CLM and Kaptan offer a pretty stable base in terms of balance. In my classic drift setup with the Clio RS 2.0, I went with a slight negative camber (-3°) up front and a 30% limited-slip rear differential, which gave me a really smooth torque split—the engine’s mid-range torque fed the rear wheels nicely. For braking, I went with 320mm front and 300mm rear discs, balancing the brake bias at 55% front and 45% rear. This setup keeps the car from locking up under hard braking and gives me control during quick direction changes. Tire choice is huge; up front, I run a softer 205/45R17 for better grip on entry, while the rear gets a taller sidewall 215/45R17 with a slightly firmer compound. This combo sharpens the difference in traction between front and rear, making it way easier to control slides. As for weight, before boosting power, I’d swap suspension parts to lightweight aluminum, go for a steel flywheel setup, and switch to a lighter radiator—all without messing with the balance, just to tighten up the handling. Personally, I’d add a mild turbo (like a 0.6 bar setup) for power, then hammer the suspension to shave off 20kg before fine-tuning. At the end of the day, the real keys are a smooth torque curve, that 55-45 front-rear brake bias, and the right tire combo. Nail those, and your Renault turns into a total drift machine out there on the track.
