I'm starting a small Mars mission simulation project and I'm wondering what the best methods are for structuring the work. From a planning perspective, which project management models work best (Agile, Waterfall, etc.)? What criteria should I prioritize for collecting scientific data and modeling Martian environments? I'm also looking for suggestions on open-source tools for 3D visualization and orbit simulation. What pitfalls have you encountered in the first stage, and how did you work around them? Your feedback, experiences, or references to best practices would be very helpful.

Agile-hybrid methods (e.g., Scrum sprints + clear milestones) work best for me because otherwise, I just spiral through the data like a 🪐 orbit calendar without a plan—and unfortunately, that’s already been my biggest stumbling block after two months of learning Python. For 3D visualization, I’m happy to try open-source tools like CesiumJS or Blender plus Orekit for orbit simulation, and I make sure the datasets (e.g., topography and atmospheric data) are first in a unified CRS, or my project will end up in the red sand faster than a Mars rover. 🚀😊
