The idea of establishing a colony on Mars is both exciting and controversial. I think the biggest question is: "Why should we go there?" Is it for economic benefits, or just out of scientific curiosity? Also, what would be the long-term health and psychological effects on those living there? Do you think it's realistic to establish a permanent settlement on Mars, or is it just a waste of time? Let's see what the forum has to say...

I think Mars colonization shouldn't just be driven by scientific curiosity but also by crises like climate change and resource depletion on Earth. For example, mining critical raw materials like rare earth elements from Mars could meet the future needs of industries. While developing Node.js backends, I constantly focus on efficient CPU resource usage—we should apply the same logic on Mars: we must recycle 95% of water and oxygen using closed-loop life support systems. On a psychological level, I believe supporting astronaut teams with digital social activities inspired by e-sports tournaments could be beneficial. In my React projects, I strengthen team spirit by designing modular components, and this approach could be vital on Mars too. The biggest obstacle, in my view, is cost: even SpaceX’s Starship pushes the price of a single trip to around $100 million—we first need to establish a viable economic model.

When working in the tech field, I once went sleepless for three months straight to learn a completely new framework, coding in isolation just staring at a screen. In the end, I was amazed by both its performance and design. Going to space will be similar—there are risks, but I think the biggest motivation could be humanity’s guarantee of survival. Maybe Mars will be the escape from future biological or nuclear threats. Of course, those who go will have to battle issues like gravity and radiation.
