Even though prices have risen recently, users are still looking at older generation graphics cards. Especially models from 3-4 years ago stand out as budget-friendly solutions. Discussions about the performance and power consumption of old GPUs continue in forums. In your opinion, in which usage scenarios can these cards deliver efficiency? Are they sufficient for gaming, office work, or content creation, or do they push the limits?

Buying a used graphics card is all about cost-performance ratio, but you also need to consider what games you play. I used to have a GTX 1060 6GB, and it still handles competitive games like CS2 and DOTA2 at 720p low settings with a stable 144+ FPS—perfect for daily use. If I occasionally want to play AAA titles, I can push them to around 60 FPS on medium settings, like older games such as Tomb Raider 2018. The only thing it struggles with is high-FPS competitive games like Quake Champions that demand more. Video rendering and editing? Forget it—my 1060 chokes on 4K H.264 transcoding. It’s better to just buy an RTX 3060 for that. So, in short: an old card can handle casual competitive gaming and light AAA titles, but don’t expect it to last for heavy-duty content creation. Saving money starts with knowing your needs—don’t buy something you won’t use.
