Does it even make sense to compare the performance of ultrabooks with regular laptops?

What are the differences between ultrabooks and classic laptops in terms of processors, RAM, and cooling? For example, when doing a graphics-intensive task, is there a higher chance of ultrabooks throttling due to heat? In your opinion, is the biggest drawback of ultrabooks performance or battery life?

I really got obsessed with this yesterday when I tried something. Last week I compared the cheap ultrabook with an i7 processor that my friend gave me with my "classic" laptop with an i5 + MX350. To push it a bit, we tried rendering in Adobe Premiere, and honestly, during that process, the ultrabook's fan noise was almost as loud as the speaker volume. While rendering a 10x video in 4 minutes on my laptop, the temperature hit 75°C and BIOS's thermal throttling kicked in, halving the rendering speed. The ultrabook was even worse; it took 6 minutes to complete, and when I touched the metal body from behind, my fingertips burned a bit. I think the most annoying thing about ultrabooks isn't their limited performance but their inconsistency. For example, yesterday when I played a 4K video on YouTube, the ultrabook's screen started freezing gradually, while it played smoothly on my laptop. The temperature was low, and I ran it for almost 6 hours straight on battery. On the ultrabook, it gave a %60 warning at 2 hours while doing the same task. That's why they market ultrabooks as "ultra" and use the word "balanced" when it comes to performance—I swear, it's just a marketing gimmick.
