I'm planning to work remotely and travel frequently, so I'm torn between a traditional business laptop and an ultrabook. What are the main trade-offs in terms of processing power, battery life, weight, durability, security features, and expandability? How do these categories typically handle port selection and cooling under sustained workloads? I'd love to hear any insights on what criteria matter most for a mobile professional.
What should I consider when choosing a business laptop versus an ultrabook for travel?

For travel, I'd go for an ultrabook—lighter yet still durable if you choose one with an MIL-STD-810H rating. Battery life in ultrabooks is crazy good these days, whereas business laptops can feel like they need a power outlet every couple of hours. My old ThinkPad T-series lasted about 4 hours max, but my current ultrabook? 12 hours easy for mixed work.
Last year, when I was heading to Gibraltar, I bought a massive work laptop, but I didn’t bring it with me after seeing it weighed 3kg in my suitcase. Then, during the nearly 15-hour flight, I realized it was heating up like crazy—add to that the fact that nothing worked except for one USB-C port. This time, I switched to an ultrabook. It’s 1.2kg, and while it’s annoying that all the ports funnel into one hub, at least my lap didn’t get scorched while playing LapGammon.
