Should you upgrade your case for better airflow or just aesthetics?

Yo, so I'm planning my first full budget build and I'm stuck between going for a case with insane mesh front panels for airflow or one that just looks clean with tempered glass everywhere. I get that mesh = better temps, but does it really affect longevity or noise levels? Also, some cases have these weird plastic covers over the fans—do they even do anything or is it just marketing? Tempted to just pick whatever's cheapest at the time since this is my first rig. How y'all weigh looks vs function when picking a case?

Let me see, I'm also wondering if those plastic covers on the fans really help or if they just mess up the airflow - maybe I'll just end up hating the look when everything's buzzing too loudly!

Compare it to choosing between a functional winter jacket with thick insulation or a sleek leather one for style. Good airflow in a case is like insulation—keeps components cool under load, preventing throttling and extending longevity. But if you're gaming at high settings, the difference between mesh and glass might be like comparing a padded jacket to a windbreaker in extreme cold. Covers over fans? Mostly gimmicks, like a thin scarf—doesn’t really block noise or heat, just looks tidy.
