Do mechanical switches really make a difference in gaming compared to membrane switches? Does the tactile feedback actually improve accuracy, or is it just marketing hype? And when it comes to longevity, can we trust the manufacturers' claims in the long run?

Ah, the question that divides! Since I switched from my Logicool G Pro to a Razer BlackWidow V3 mechanical keyboard for competitive FPS games, what really struck me was the difference in *key awareness*. For example, when playing Counter-Strike, actions like *bunny hopping* or *tap-strafing* become much more instinctive because you can feel exactly when your jump key is activated. With a membrane keyboard, you often get that little fuzzy delay before the action registers, whereas with a linear switch (Gateron Yellows in this case), it's ultra-smooth and predictable. In terms of durability, after 8 months of heavy gaming (especially Valorant in Diamond rank), the switches haven’t budged: still that crisp *clack* without any wear. However, the marketing can be a bit optimistic about those "50M clicks" – personally, I noticed a little play in my favorite switches after 30M, but nothing dramatic either. The real bonus? Modularity: swapping out a worn switch or switching from linear to tactile in 10 minutes is pure magic. That said, if you're just playing LoL or casually, a good membrane keyboard like Corsair’s does the job just fine.
