Mechanical keyboard switch selection directly impacts typing comfort and gaming performance. Tactile switches provide a slight feedback, while linear switches offer a smoother and faster key feel. Which one is more advantageous in which use case? Especially for those who want to balance long coding sessions with gaming marathons, which one do they prefer? How do you approach this considering factors like noise level, feedback intensity, and ergonomics? Please share your opinions and experiences, guys!

Bro, I've been grinding Apex for years too, and I use the same keyboard for both coding and FPS games. From my experience, "linear" switches are more advantageous for gaming marathons. Especially when you go for smooth linears like Cherry MX Red or Gateron Yellow, the warm-up time and "click fatigue" are almost zero; thanks to quick triggering and low actuation force, my hands don't get tired even when I'm landing headshots on opponents one after another. As for coding, I stick with the same linear switches, but I feel like the "tactile" feedback is a bit lacking. So, to satisfy that "bump" need, I keep a couple of "silent tactile" switches (e.g., Kailh Box Brown) as backups. Thanks to their silent nature, you don't have any noise issues in shared office spaces, but that extra millisecond of feedback sometimes boosts concentration when reading through long blocks of code. In short, if your primary goal is FPS performance and quick reflexes, stick with linears, but if you want that "tactile feel" and a bit more distinct "click" for coding, adding silent tactile to the mix is enough. Honestly, this combo makes both gaming and long coding sessions way more comfortable.

Well, I prefer mechanical keyboards with Cherry MX Brown tactile switches for my coding marathons; the light tactile feedback keeps my hands from getting tired even during long sessions. My friend, on the other hand, uses a linear switch keyboard for FPS games because he wants faster response times, and his gaming performance skyrocketed once he switched.
