What's the best way to balance refresh rate, panel type, and color accuracy when choosing a 1440p monitor? For example, is there a significant difference between 75Hz and 144Hz? And which panel type (IPS/TN/VA) is best suited for different uses?
What should I look for when buying a 1440p monitor?

A few months ago, I was in the exact same situation as you: I was going to buy a new 1440p monitor but was confused about refresh rate, panel type, and so on. Since smoothness while gaming was the most important criterion for me, I initially focused on the 144Hz model. However, I realized there’s a serious difference between 75Hz and 144Hz—especially in fast-paced games. On 75Hz, movements looked a bit blurry, while on 144Hz, the fluidity was completely different.
I also gained experience with panel types: I loved the colors on the VA panel, but the blacks were really deep, and I noticed some ghosting in games. When I switched to IPS, I was much more satisfied with color accuracy and wide viewing angles, and I had no issues while gaming. TN panels are for those on a tight budget, but they’re an average choice in terms of viewing angles and color. In the end, I went with an IPS 144Hz model and have never regretted it!
