I'm curious, are 1440p monitors really worth it for gaming and general use? On smaller screens, the difference seems negligible, but what about larger sizes? Compared to 1080p at the same price, how much performance loss are we talking about? What are your thoughts—is the upgrade worth it, or is it overhyped?

I've been diving deep into hardware lately, especially since switching to 1440p, and I can say the difference is really noticeable—especially on larger screens (27 inches or bigger). Text and details look sharper, and while it doesn’t ease the load on the GPU as much as you’d think, the subjective gain in precision is huge, especially in strategy games or competitive titles. As for performance, a 3070 or RX 6800 handles 1440p just fine, but 4K is still a challenge even for top-tier GPUs. The jump from 1080p to 1440p costs about 20–40% more GPU power depending on the game—but in return, you get a clear visual upgrade without falling into the 4K "unplayable" zone. For me, it’s absolutely worth it with a solid 27" model like the LG 27GL850.

When comparing 1440p monitors to 1080p, the overall advantages, as you mentioned, depend on the size. On smaller screens (24-25"), the difference is minimal, and 1080p can even offer smoother performance. However, at 27" and above, the clarity becomes noticeably better—especially when reading documents, coding, or playing games where graphical details matter (like the sharpness of distant textures). As for performance loss, your graphics card plays a big role. With mid-to-high-end cards like an RTX 3060 Ti or RX 6700 XT, 1440p runs smoothly at high settings. But with the same card, you can get 20-30% higher FPS at 1080p. So, for esports or games that demand quick reactions, 1080p has the edge.
