1440p is what they call QHD resolution. It has 1440 vertical pixels and 2560 horizontal pixels. Compared to 1080p, it means more detail in the same screen area, both in clarity and size. Colors and details look better, but you do need better hardware for it. You can keep the details without dropping FPS in games. Is it too much for a beginner?
What does a 1440p monitor mean, and does it have any advantages?

Man, bro, I'm studying engineering and I'm looking for a laptop. How's this whole thing going? It's really confusing my head. Do you think it might be overkill for me?
For Full HD, the closest comparison is already Full HD, bro. While you can easily reach 1920x1080 resolution at 1080p, QHD jumps up to 2560x1440. Take Cyberpunk, for example—it can melt your PC even at 1080p, so to keep the graphics high in QHD, you’ll need much stronger hardware. Similarly, for Red Dead Redemption 2 to hit 60 FPS, you’d need something like an RTX 3060 Ti—otherwise, don’t expect it to stay above 30 FPS.
But if you're a beginner, it’s not a big deal—you can still get it. Forza Horizon 5, for instance, runs at 144 FPS in Full HD but drops to 80-90 FPS in QHD. So if your GPU is decent, you won’t have much trouble. GTA V is similar—140 FPS in Full HD and 70-80 FPS in QHD. If you know your hardware, you can choose between the two.
