I've also gained a lot of experience over the years with mouse sensor technologies and DPI settings, especially the struggles I went through when switching from a Logitech G502 to a Razer DeathAdder V3 Pro while playing Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Back then, I believed that a higher DPI was necessary, thinking that a 3200 DPI mouse would provide sufficient performance. But in reality, what mattered was how sensitive and consistent the sensor was. The G502 used an optical sensor, which was decent, but the PAW3395 laser sensor in the DeathAdder V3 Pro delivered much smoother and faster movements even at much lower DPI settings (800-1600).
Eventually, I realized that DPI should only be adjusted based on screen resolution. In gaming, a setting between 800-1200 DPI offers the smoothest gameplay, depending on whether your screen is 1080p or 1440p. For office use, 1600-2400 DPI is usually enough, but the quality of the sensor still plays a big role there too.
