The number of overclockable hardware has increased compared to last year, but for those expecting permanent performance gains, the reality is a bit harsh. Especially with new-gen CPUs, reaching stability through stress tests requires a lot of effort. On the GPU side, VRM and cooling solutions have become even more critical. Meanwhile, in older systems, manual tuning is still king. In 2024, do you think overclocking is preferred, or are pre-tuned products the go-to choice?

So what does the future of overclocking look like on the latest Intel 14th-gen or AMD Ryzen 7000-series processors? It’s no longer as simple as just increasing the multiplier like it used to be. With Intel’s Thermal Velocity Boost and AMD’s Precision Boost Overdrive taking over much of the automatic tuning, manual overclocking seems to be fading into the background. But does this mean enthusiasts have to give up full control? I’d argue the opposite—fine-tuning with tools like Ryzen Master now requires tweaking more than just clock speeds; you’re diving into voltage, power limits, and temperature balancing. If you’re not adopting this new approach, you might be leaving a significant chunk of performance on the table.
