In custom PC builds, how do you balance the CPU-to-GPU performance ratio within budget constraints to achieve the best overall experience?

When building a new PC, budget is often the primary constraint. If the CPU and GPU performance doesn't match, it can lead to bottlenecks or wasted resources. How do you usually assess the performance needs of both components? Do you first determine the main usage and then work backward to allocate hardware proportions, or do you distribute the budget based on the average demands of current mainstream games/workloads? Feel free to share your experiences and calculation methods.

I usually start by clarifying the main use case (like 1080p high-frame-rate gaming or light video editing) and then allocate my budget at roughly a 3:1 ratio in favor of the GPU to ensure the CPU doesn’t become a bottleneck. When actually building the system, I put 70% of the budget toward an RTX 3060 and 30% toward a Ryzen 5 5600, and the overall benchmark scores and gaming experience turn out very balanced.
