Hello everyone, I'm starting to get interested in PC building and I'm looking for feedback on basic assembly methods. What are the best practices for choosing components without making mistakes? How do you handle compatibility or thermal optimization? Sharing your general approaches would be super helpful for a beginner like me!

Well then, first off, try not to go for gear that's either too old or too new so you don't end up stuck if something goes wrong. And for compatibility, sites like PCPartPicker are a huge help to check everything fits before you order.

Hey, glad to see you're diving into PC building! Compatibility is definitely the biggest trap for beginners. My first time, I almost got an ATX motherboard to fit in a micro-ATX case just because I blanked on the dimensions without checking the connectors. And then for power, especially with newer motherboards that have PCIe 5.0 connectors for the latest GPUs, you gotta make sure your PSU has the right cables. Once, I had to return a 4080 because my case wouldn't let me plug in the PCIe 4.0 cable that came with the PSU... Luckily, the seller was cool about it. Otherwise, for cooling, have you already thought about your case's airflow, or are you planning to rely on the stock air cooler for now?

Thanks for sharing your experience, it helps a lot! You can start by choosing a motherboard compatible with your CPU (socket + chipset) and check the max supported RAM. Do you already have an idea of your usage (gaming, office work, etc.)?
