The key to not messing up when choosing a PC power supply is to first add a 20–30 % buffer to the total power draw. In my custom PC, the CPU and GPU together have a TDP of around 250 W, but I installed a power supply rated for over 300 W. That way, even when overclocking or hitting peak loads, the voltage stays stable and prevents system reboots or crashes. Next, pay attention to the 80 PLUS certification. If you go for an 80 PLUS Gold (or better) model, efficiency climbs to around 90 %, cutting electricity costs while reducing heat so your case airflow improves. The Corsair RM850x I’ve been using lately is Gold-rated and runs at a steady 30 °C, keeping things nice and quiet. A fully modular design makes cable management much easier. With a fully modular PSU you can remove every unnecessary cable, improving airflow and lowering component temperatures.
