Last month, I tried Cyberpunk 2077 with DLSS 3 + RT Overdrive, but dealing with a graphics card tangled in cable chaos sent performance plummeting. Right when I was about to give up, I switched to ultra-level ray tracing but set DLSS to Quality mode and focused on frame pacing. I nearly eliminated motion blur and ditched dynamic resolution scaling because stable FPS and visual consistency mattered more to me. To avoid sudden system resource spikes, I capped the frame limiter in MSI Afterburner at 60 and left G-Sync in auto mode on the OSD. In the end, I managed to hold 70-80 FPS instead of the usual 40-50, with no image distortion.
Another thing I ran into was testing Minecraft RTX—where I hit a “small” snag while loading NVIDIA’s RTX Worlds. Turning off dynamic lighting and dropping ambient occlusion to low saved a ton of performance. So it seems to me that when using ray tracing, it’s better to optimize based on what the game and renderer actually support, rather than maxing out every setting.
