With the arrival of so-called "next-gen" graphics cards, the RTX 40 Series is making waves. But is this technology right for everyone, especially if you're starting from scratch or working with a tight budget? And where do we stand exactly in terms of power consumption vs. performance? Those of you following this field, your insights interest me: what criteria do you think are essential for making an informed choice in this range?

I started from scratch with my first build two years ago, so I know exactly how much budget and power consumption can hold you back. My advice: if you're just starting out or on a tight budget, an RTX 4060 or 4060 Ti is still a great value without breaking the bank on electricity. Personally, I went with a 4060 paired with a Ryzen 5 5600X, and honestly, even at 1440p on recent games like *Cyberpunk 2077* (with DLSS on Balanced), it runs smoothly without blowing up my power bill. On the other hand, if you're already rocking a recent setup and have the budget, the 4070 or 4080 justifies its price for 4K and heavy ray tracing. Just make sure to check your PSU—an RTX 4070 needs at least 700W, or you’ll get sparks (I learned that the hard way once…). Bottom line, it all depends on your use case and budget, but an entry-level 4060 gets the job done without any hassle!

The RTX 40 series offers fantastic performance, but for beginners or budget users, older models like the RTX 3060 or even the GTX 1660 are often cheaper and sufficient. How much power does an RTX 4090 actually consume compared to its predecessors?
