When choosing an SSD, one of the most important factors is determining the right speed and capacity based on your needs. For NVMe models, PCIe 3.0/4.0/5.0 and bandwidth options directly impact performance. For temperature management, models with solid cooling solutions that don’t throttle under heat are preferable. For long-term reliability, those with high DRAM cache and endurance ratings (TBW) are more dependable. What are your preferences? What do you prioritize when buying?

When buying an NVMe, I usually go for PCIe 4.0/5.0 because there’s a noticeable speed difference in the latest games and apps, especially on loading screens. Mine is PCIe 4.0 with a TBW of around 600 TB, it’s been 5 years and still no issues. If the budget allows, I prefer models with DRAM cache—they’re sturdier in terms of both performance and longevity.
But thermal throttling has to be taken seriously; with my older model I was constantly seeing temps around 80 °C, and adding a heatsink fixed it. If the cooling solution is weak, even PCIe 5.0 can’t show its benefits. In my opinion, you should rank them as version first, then cooling, then durability.
