NVMe SSDs promise high bandwidth and low latency since they operate over the PCIe interface. How noticeable is the performance boost in real-world scenarios? Does it make a difference in demanding read-write tasks like gaming, video editing, and database operations? I’m also curious about potential downsides like power consumption, heat output, and cost.
What are the advantages and possible disadvantages of NVMe SSDs compared to SATA SSDs?

In my new gaming rig with an RTX 3080, I swapped out my old SATA SSD for a 1TB NVMe drive, and game load times dropped from 30–40 seconds down to about 10–12 seconds—levels now load almost instantly. Temps did creep up a bit, but in real gameplay, the benefits clearly outweigh the downsides.
