SSDs running over the SATA interface make a huge difference compared to HDDs when it comes to data transfer. In terms of read/write performance, access time, and durability, in which scenarios are they generally preferred? Also, what should be considered regarding performance changes and data integrity as capacity increases? In your opinion, what are the most critical factors for the long-term use of SATA SSDs?

SATA SSDs are roughly 5-6× faster than HDDs for sequential read/write tasks and have millisecond instead of tenth-of-a-second latency, making them ideal for OS and NAS cache jobs. At higher capacities, speed stays nearly the same, but write endurance (TBW, wear-leveling) becomes more critical. Long-term, keep an eye on operating temperature, write volume, and regular backups—otherwise, the drive can quickly turn into data trash. And yes, I’m still a complete beginner, so forgive me if I can’t quite grasp the difference between SATA and NVMe cables! 😂💾
