Hey guys, when I was setting up my first PC, I was really confused about webcams. What features should I look for? Like, how many MP is enough, what resolution is ideal? What's the difference between autofocus and manual focus? Whether I'm buying it for gaming or just meetings makes a big difference. Is an ambient light sensor important? Do I need anything for sound quality? Also, what do they mean by minimum frame rate? Any help would be appreciated.
What should I look for when buying a webcam?

Last year when I was buying a webcam for my brother, I went through the same struggle, I swear. I thought to myself, "Let's get a decent one," but the prices were sky-high, bro. I spent hours deciding between 1080p and 4K. In the end, I realized that if it's just for meetings, a 1080p 30fps model is enough. There's no need for 4K anyway—those files are huge. With auto-focus, you don’t have to mess with cables and manual adjustments, so I went with that. Also, pick one with a light sensor, or you won’t look decent in night meetings.
I also struggled with the audio. I thought about getting a model with a built-in mic, but the noise from outside my windows ruined everything—you’d hear traffic instead of "Yes, yes, I understand." In the end, I bought a separate USB mic, and it was way clearer and more enjoyable. For frame rate, if it’s for gaming, you need at least 60fps, but for normal use, 30fps is fine. I didn’t even consider gaming for my brother, but there’s a big difference. Long story short, choose based on your needs—get one with a light sensor, and if possible, a separate mic for better sound.
Thanks for the suggestions, mate. I used to be confused about this stuff too. I think 1080p and 30 fps is enough for me, and for audio, it might be better to get a separate mic.
