The university placement system (YKS) is still a bit confusing to me. Does my ranking depend on a sliding scale or is the highest preference the most important? Also, how is the placement score calculated, bro?
How does the YKS (University Entrance Exam) preference system work?

Super preference system, honestly, a year ago I was so confused thinking "should I just keep writing my first choice over and over?"😅. There are places where your top choice really matters, but it can also backfire if you're not careful—you might end up with nothing! The placement score is calculated with TYT+AYT+SÖZ+any local bonus points, and honestly, the distribution of points is way harder than the math itself🙃.
Buddy, don't worry, the preference system isn't actually that complicated. First, let's clarify this: The highest preference *isn't important* in placements. If you're constantly entering the link of your 300th preference, that preference has a chance to be placed, but it's the same as your 30th preference for you. So, there's no sweeping; the system takes your ranking from the bottom to the top and checks your preferences one by one. If you're ranked 2000th and your 50th preference is available, you'll be placed there. In short, the sweeping happens at the end; it's not about sweeping everyone and stuffing them into the place you want.
As for the score calculation part; let's say you got 40 raw scores in TYT and 50 in AYT. These raw scores are multiplied by separate coefficients for each test and then summed. TYT coefficients are generally lower than AYT's, for example, Turkish and Math in TYT have a coefficient of 1. In AYT, each test has different coefficients, like Literature-Geography 1.3, Math 1.6, etc. About 600 points of your total score come from these raw scores and coefficients, and the rest comes from OBP (High School Success Score) and other additional scores. Ultimately, you enter your preferences with this score.
But if there's anything about this scoring system that doesn't make sense to you, feel free to ask. What about this situation; let's say you focused only on TYT and scored zero in AYT, and you want to be placed based only on your TYT score. How does the system work in such cases?
