Hey man, I checked the news on ntv.com.tr yesterday and gold prices have really taken off. 📈 While international markets keep rising, local gold prices are also continuously pushing upwards. Do you think this trend will last? Or is it just a temporary fluctuation? Should we analyze this a bit? What do you think?

Wow man, gold prices have been absolutely crazy lately, I noticed it in the markets yesterday too. Do you think this is just because of expectations of a US interest rate cut? I’ve got a bit of gold myself, prices are skyrocketing but it’s hard to tell how long this will last. I think the short-term trend is likely to continue because the dollar is weakening and investors are flocking to gold as a safe haven. But you’ve got to be careful because any statement from the US Federal Reserve could totally flip the market. What do you think—are we nearing the end of this rally?

Sir, this rally in gold is actually a global story. While gold has always had the role of a safe haven as an international reserve currency, the recent inflation data in the US coming in higher than expected has raised the possibility of the Fed slowing down its interest rate cuts. Well, this has strengthened investors' hands, pushing them towards gold. In the domestic market, both the rise in international prices and the weakening of the Turkish lira have created a serious tandem. Last week, the price per ounce surpassed $2000, and in Turkey, the price per gram of gold reached TL 2000. I think this combination of two factors will continue in the short term because: 1. There are talks that the Fed’s first rate cut could be pushed back to September (previous expectations were June). So, the environment for aggressive rate cuts by the Fed isn’t quite there yet. 2. Geopolitical risks and post-election uncertainties continue in local markets. However, remember that whenever gold has tested the $2500 level and pulled back, many have done so. I think there’s a high chance of fluctuations within the $2200–$2400 range over the next 3–6 months. Keep this in mind when determining your investment strategy.
