I'm just starting out in the world of motorcycles and I'd like to take part in an amateur rally. What factors should I consider when choosing a bike for a beginner looking for performance and safety? For example, weight, power, maneuverability, ease of maintenance, and type of transmission. How can I balance these aspects without spending too much? I'd appreciate advice and experiences from the community. What do you all think?

Yep, when I started participating in amateur rallies, I realized that the key is finding a balance between power and maneuverability without breaking the bank. In my case, the Yamaha WR125R turned out to be an excellent choice: it weighs less than 110 kg, has a smooth and linear power delivery that makes it easy to control in tight turns, and best of all, its 4-stroke engine is very reliable and easy to maintain. Look for a bike with an engine between 125-250 cc: enough power to accelerate on short stretches, but not so aggressive that you lose traction on uneven surfaces. A 5- or 6-speed transmission is ideal; it gives you the flexibility to adapt to different types of terrain without having to shift gears every second. As for the suspension, go for an adjustable front fork and rear shock; even if you're not an expert, a few tweaks (rebound and compression) can adapt the bike to asphalt and gravel. Dual disc brakes are a must for safety, and a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel gives you good traction and access to affordable rally tires. Finally, check the cost of spare parts and the local workshop network: a popular bike like the WR125R has cheap and abundant parts, which significantly reduces long-term maintenance costs.
