Do you prefer IoT devices connected to the local network via Wi-Fi, or solutions like LoRaWAN with long-range, low power consumption? Also, share why you made this choice. I think Wi-Fi is easy to set up, but LoRaWAN is more stable in a home environment. What do you think?

I mostly use devices connected to the local network via Wi-Fi because integrating them with Home Assistant is super easy. With tools like ESPHome or Tasmota, you can set them up in a few clicks and connect them to automation—perfect for small home projects. Plus, having them run directly on the local network, like temperature sensors or light switches, feels more secure to me. But I get the advantages of LoRaWAN too! If you need long battery life or extended range (like for a sensor in the garden), LoRaWAN is definitely the smarter choice. I actually considered switching to LoRa when setting up a soil moisture sensor in the backyard, but the convenience of the Local API Gateway made me hesitate. Still, for a big villa or a sprawling property, LoRaWAN could be a lifesaver in the long run—I’m sure of it.
