In basketball, we usually prepare with tempo runs or sprints to increase our time on the court. But in a sport that requires constant movement, which is more critical for endurance: our aerobic capacity or our anaerobic performance in high-intensity short sprints? I know both are important in park play and league games, but how can we optimize both together? What approach do you take?
Aerobic vs. anaerobic – which one saves endurance in basketball?

Exactly, I've been training with a mix of both in basketball too. For example, in June my coach and I did 3 km tempo runs and 15‑20 m sprints, and I saw the benefits right away in games. I also add interval sprints (30 sec sprint – 1 min walk) to catch those anaerobic bursts, and it works great.
Last week in the league match, I was gasping for air in the third quarter because of all the sprints. Thanks to the HIIT workouts I heard from my friend, I managed to pull myself together in the fourth quarter, and my runs were way more controlled. The main trick is pairing those 30‑second high‑intensity sets with 2‑minute tempo runs, hitting both the aerobic and anaerobic systems.
