Hey everyone, what does the HDR term that we all come across actually mean? What's the difference from normal shooting, and how does it add richness to the image? Let's also discuss whether it's just an effect or really useful technology. What are your thoughts?

In my view, HDR is basically like taking RAW data with a far wider dynamic range than a normal JPEG, compressing it down to 8‑bit, and instantly turning it into an image. For example, if you snap a photo when the sun is right overhead, the sky usually ends up blown‑out bright while the people, who are in focus, look normal. With HDR, both the clouds in the sky and the person standing in the shadows come out crisp and clear. It’s more of a genuinely useful tech than a gimmick, in my opinion—especially in indoor shots or places with multiple light sources, where it can be a real lifesaver. When I shot that bakery the other day, I used HDR so every detail would pop; the guy’s face and the loaves of bread turned out huge and razor‑sharp. Just be careful not to overdo it, or it starts to look fake and loses its natural feel.
