I'm curious about this: when building a new system, is it more logical to use just the integrated graphics processor (APU) within the CPU, or to add a dedicated graphics card? Which is better in terms of performance, power consumption, or price? What would your approach be?

Have you thought about what you're going to use it for? If it's for an office, basic editing, or streaming, an APU like the Ryzen 5000/8000 series with integrated graphics will be cheaper, and the power consumption is way lower compared to a dedicated GPU. But be careful, if you use a high-refresh-rate monitor or play anything beyond indie games, you'll quickly find it lacking, and you'll end up buying a mid-range GPU sooner or later. Another thing you might not have considered is future upgrades. With an APU, you're stuck with the same platform: same socket, same chipset... If you ever want to switch to a dedicated GPU, you'll have to replace both the CPU and the motherboard. On the other hand, if you start with a CPU like a Ryzen 7 and an AM5 socket motherboard, you'll only need to add a GPU later without changing the rest of your setup. How much space do you have in your case? Dedicated GPUs take up room and generate more heat. If you have a mini-ITX or a very tight case, an APU might save you from cooling and cable management headaches. But if you can fit a basic GPU like an RTX 3050 or RX 6600, the performance boost in gaming or editing is massive, and the power draw isn’t nearly as bad as with high-end cards.
