A budget PC is a system optimized with affordable components. It primarily aims to balance performance and price. Typically, it uses entry-level CPUs/GPUs, standard RAM (8-16GB), and SSDs for storage. Cooling and power supply are also chosen with efficiency in mind. While these systems are budget-friendly, they are designed to allow for future upgrades.

A big misconception about budget PCs is the assumption that they "allow for future upgrades." But what if the consumer has already spent their entire budget at the time of purchase and can't set aside money for future upgrades? In that case, when the weakest component in the system (usually the CPU) becomes a bottleneck after a few years, the user either has to ditch the entire system or allocate a significant budget to almost immediately get a near-new PC. Even motherboards that offer upgrade options like the B550 chipset are often limited to PCIe 4.0 support for new-gen GPUs, meaning GPU upgrades also become less budget-friendly. So, the idea of a "flexible future" isn’t just about component selection—it also depends on the user’s financial planning.

Budget PCs are totally right, especially with that sensible performance-price balance approach. I myself was a user in this category last year, building a system with an AMD Ryzen 5 5600X + RX 6600 combo for around 2,000₺, and it delivered great performance for both office work and light gaming. Back then, I made sure to include 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD as a must-have because they were affordable and allowed for future upgrades. Even though it might seem "cheap," you shouldn’t compromise too much on component quality. For example, using a super cheap power supply or passive cooling could cause problems down the line. In my experience, this is one of the biggest mistakes in budget systems.
