Let's discuss what can be done with a €600 budget during this tough period under inflation. Should we aim for a CPU-intensive task or focus on GPU performance? Which components should we splurge on and where can we cut corners? In your opinion, which architecture is more cost-effective: older high-end components or newer entry-level ones? My setup isn’t for CPU-heavy tasks either, so a new-gen entry-level build around €600 makes sense. For example, an R5 5600 + RX 6600 combo crushes its rivals both in price/performance and longevity. When you look at older high-end parts (like Ryzen 3000 + GTX 1660 Super), remember upgrade paths get locked in—AM5 or PCIe 5.0 support in the new gen keeps things cleaner down the road. If you’re GPU-focused—say, Lightroom renders or OBS recordings—the R5 5600G’s integrated graphics can tide you over until you focus on a single GPU later. But for CPU-heavy workloads, you’ll need at least something like an R5 5600, or you’ll bottleneck hard. A used R5 3600 for €400 + a new RX 6600 for €200 was a smart move last year, but if you want guaranteed stability, new parts are the better call.
