Bro, last year I also had a budget PC dilemma, around 5-6k. First, I checked out prebuilt systems, but their hardware components were always "mid-range" quality, so the performance wasn't cutting it. In the end, I built it myself and balanced both the budget and performance. For example, I upgraded the CPU and GPU, and bumped the RAM up to 32GB. The price was almost the same, but in the end, my machine was tailored exactly to my taste and needs.
If you're confident in your hardware knowledge and plan to upgrade your system in the future, building is always the smarter choice. With prebuilts, you either end up with something lacking or overpaying for the hardware. Plus, when you build yourself, you learn what’s compatible, which comes in handy down the line. Of course, if you're thinking, "I want it to be covered under warranty," then prebuilts are a solid option. But if you go the route I did, you’ll end up way more satisfied in the end.
