Hey everyone, I'm thinking about building a budget-friendly PC but I'm confused about where to start. For example, is the CPU more important or RAM? Or does it just come down to price? How do we balance price and performance? Also, I want it to be upgradeable in the future. What do you guys look out for? Could I get some recommendations, mate? 😊

Starting with the CPU makes sense. For example, I was also stuck on the AMD Ryzen 5 5600 for my first budget PC, and it was great because of both its price and the upgrade options it offered. For RAM, go with at least 16GB DDR4, since you'll be bottlenecked at 8GB in most games and applications anyway. What you should look at for price-to-performance is compatibility: for instance, making sure the CPU is compatible with future upgrades when paired with a B550 motherboard. If you want it to be future-proof, GPU strategy matters too. For example, I went with the NVIDIA RTX 3060, and it was solid for both gaming and light AI workloads. But if you're going to buy a second-hand GPU, be careful about things like warranty status, etc. Still, in upgradeable systems, the most fragile part is usually the motherboard, so focus on that.
