Man, dealing with USB cables back in the day was such a pain, seriously—I was exactly like that! When wireless charging first came out I was like “oh wow, this is awesome,” but I dropped it pretty quickly because of the slowness and the whole hassle of getting it in the right spot. It’s like you set the phone down and it doesn’t charge, you keep having to tweak the position. With a normal wired charger there’s no such problem—you just plug it in and you’re done.
I think the closest thing to this is when tablets first hit the market. Everyone was like “ah, finally we won’t have to deal with cables!” but what happened to wireless tablets? Unfortunately they never became a standard. Wireless charging is the same way—it’s still not “everywhere.” You’ll find wireless charging stations in cafés and hotels, but at home you already have the convenience of cables everywhere, so why bother? Of course, advances in voltage and speed could make a different story in the future, but for now I’m still loyal to the cable, bro.
