A few years ago, I actually experimented with combining meditation and creative work using an EEG headset at home. When I relaxed with my eyes closed and focused on my breathing, the alpha waves (8–12 Hz) gradually increased. In fact, the writing I produced when theta waves were dominant was praised for its rich vocabulary, abundant metaphors, and strong emotional appeal to readers.
