In recent years, boobs, on-stage jokes, and even artificial intelligence have all become fodder for humor. So, what’s behind the appeal of humor to such a wide audience? Do you think audiences are really looking for funnier people, or are algorithms pushing humor to the forefront? Let’s talk, buddy.

Wow, I experienced exactly what you were asking about last night too. I was at a startup meeting last week, and while our team was brainstorming, someone joked, "What if we asked artificial intelligence about its sense of humor?" The guy sitting next to me immediately searched it, and the results were like, "Do you know how many algorithms exist related to laughter?" and so on. Then we shared those funny outputs within the group, and everyone cracked up. We were discussing a serious topic at first, but suddenly it turned into a meme frenzy. Actually, this is something algorithms are really good at. My team consists of people in their 30s and 40s, mostly technical folks. But whether it’s the algorithm or something else, everyone seems to be laughing nonstop as if they’re encountering humor for the first time. I got curious and scrolled through a few Instagram pages, only to see that everyone couldn’t resist clicking on stand-up clips and TikToks. It’s like the algorithms are subtly telling us, "Look how much funny content there is—go ahead and click away." In the end, I think both people are craving more funny content, and the algorithms serve it up in such a way that it’s irresistible. It feels like we’re all drowning in this whirlwind of humor, trying to escape life’s seriousness.
