Why do people cling to nostalgia in digital content? Like how retro-style interfaces, old fonts, or '90s game sound effects are making a comeback. Is there a psychological or technological explanation for this? Do you have a personal example of nostalgia that draws you in?

It always gives me a strange sense of peace to hear the sound effects of old game consoles or to boot up the Windows 95 screensaver. Is this nostalgia really just an escape from a stressful world, a retreat to the good old days?

Ah, this topic is really interesting! When I compare it to digital nostalgia, the film industry immediately comes to mind. For example, the series "Stranger Things" revived the VHS aesthetic and synthwave music of the '80s—it's exactly a way to bring the past to life digitally. Just like how some games (e.g., "Stardew Valley") evoke nostalgic feelings with pixel art graphics or 8-bit sounds. Additionally, the interest in old fonts (like Comic Sans still being used today) or retro UI designs actually stems from a psychological tendency called "nostalgia bias." People seek comfort in positive memories from the past during stressful times. One of the things that impresses me the most is old computer sounds (like the startup sound of Windows 95). Even that simple, melodic tune being associated with nostalgia today shows how deeply digital pasts are ingrained in us.
