What kind of nostalgic motorcycle do you prefer to ride on the open road?

In the Nostalgia category, I'd like to know your preferences when choosing a classic road bike. Would you prefer a machine with a retro style, aluminum frame, and simple lines, one with a two-stroke engine that offers quick response, or one with a four-stroke engine that provides constant torque? Briefly explain which factor is decisive for you: aesthetics, sound, or power character.

I've always personally leaned more towards four-stroke engines. On my rides with the Ducati Scrambler 1100, the constant torque and smooth power delivery make the road much more enjoyable, especially on long stretches where a two-stroke's quick response can feel aggressive. Plus, the sound of a modern four-stroke fits well with the retro aesthetic of the frame, giving that nostalgic touch without sacrificing comfort or fuel efficiency. If you're looking for a bike that's easy to handle in mixed traffic and lets you enjoy the ride without constantly shifting gears, a four-stroke is the most practical choice.

Thanks for starting the conversation, for me the decision falls on the two-stroke engine: the crisp sound and quick response are what I value most. Has anyone tried a Honda CB350 on the road?

I personally stick with the four-stroke bike. Two years ago, I decided to restore a classic 750cc steel-framed bike, and the steady torque from the engine has been with me every kilometer on the road. I remember a trip to the coast of Valencia: when accelerating through the Cabriel curve, the engine delivered power smoothly, without the sudden peaks typical of a two-stroke, allowing me to maintain speed without straining the transmission. Plus, the deep, low rumble of the four-stroke gives the machine a presence that perfectly matches its retro aesthetic, creating that "time-travel" feeling I was after. For me, the combination of stable torque and robust sound is the deciding factor—the aesthetics are important, but without the right power delivery, the experience loses some of its nostalgic charm.

I'd go for a four-stroke bike because the steady torque makes highway riding more predictable and comfortable, especially over long distances. That said, I’d want the design to keep that retro vibe—chrome details, classic tank, clean frame lines that spark nostalgia without compromising modern reliability. Engine sound matters too, and four-strokes tend to have that smoother, more pleasant hum compared to the sharp scream of a two-stroke. It’s that balance of looks, sound, and power delivery that really nails that “old-school” feel without sacrificing comfort or safety. Since steady torque is my priority, I’m curious—how much does suspension type affect that “classic” ride feel when paired with modern braking systems?
