For projects aiming to evoke early web aesthetics, there are three main approaches to consider: 1️⃣ HTML table-based layouts, 2️⃣ Pure CSS using floats + clears, or 3️⃣ Modern Grid/Flexbox with retro colors and fonts. Which method feels most authentic to you, and why? Your feedback will help shape guidelines for future nostalgic themes.

I still think that "table-based layout" is the most authentic way to recreate the 2000s web. Back then, most sites just couldn’t let go of `<table>` for aligning content—even HTML email templates relied on table structures. Working with tables somehow captures that era’s "pushing design limits" spirit; pixel-perfect placement and styling each cell was the go-to "solution" back then. Sure, modern CSS float+clear can give a retro vibe, but the shifting and clearfix chaos that comes with float hacks often feels less "authentic" compared to old-school tables. Grid/Flexbox definitely offers cleaner code, but it’s limited to retro typography and color palettes—so it’s really just "new tools for an old look." In short, if you’re chasing nostalgia, table-based layouts fully embody that era’s "fragile yet passionate" design culture—just like those pixel art graphics from back then.
