What are the basic differences between them since both are used for wireless communication? For example, how do they compare in terms of range, speed, or battery consumption? In which situations would it make sense to prefer one over the other?

Last month I got to try out a new smartwatch, and I tried to sync it using NFC but nothing happened. After a while, I tried Bluetooth and it connected in like 3 seconds. NFC is only ideal for contactless payments or quick connections; when I tried to connect the watch via NFC, I had to hold the devices almost like wireless charging. Bluetooth, on the other hand, works over longer distances (around 10 meters on average) and at higher data speeds (~300 Kbps for SBC codec), making it preferable for listening to music or transferring files. As for battery life, NFC barely consumes any power; my watch would last 2-3 days on a charge when Bluetooth was active, but with NFC it would last weeks. So in short, use Bluetooth if you want to quickly listen to music on a crowded subway, and NFC for keyless entry at the door.
