In my opinion, if there’s a serious deficiency in the body, it makes more sense to get that vitamin straight from a lab. For example, when your vitamin D levels drop, you need to supplement it the way the doctor prescribed, because it can lead to pretty serious consequences. Still, vitamins you get from vegetables and fruits are generally absorbed better by the body, since in their natural form they contain other compounds.
Honestly, in my experience some synthetic vitamins gave me stomach trouble, but not all of them. Like, swallowing a vitamin C pill would burn my stomach, but eating an orange didn’t do anything. So I think you need to strike a balance: if your diet is sufficient, it’s best not to take supplements, but if there’s a deficiency, you should take them in a controlled way under a doctor’s guidance.
