Are AI algorithms really that complex?

Hey forum, I'm curious: How do AI algorithms actually work? For example, what are the basic principles behind training a model? It seems complex, but is there always a similar logic under the hood? How predictable or flexible do you think these systems are?

Man, when I look at those mind-blowing "black box" AI algorithms, it always reminds me of supermarket cashiers and how they trick customers. You can think of it like those calculators in stores: every time it processes a sale, it uses the data it has (product prices) to do a simple addition, but it instantly tells you the total of your basket. AI works like that machine, but with a system of equations made up of millions of operations. At its core, it's about finding patterns in data and using that to predict future data. That's why it's predictable and flexible— the more data you feed it, the more consistent the results. But of course, it's not as simple as a calculator's addition because AI constantly updates itself with new data. Here's the interesting part: I think AI algorithms are actually quite systematic, like a parking attendant's system for parking cars. While trying to find a spot for each car (data), it follows some automatic rules, but it still includes a clumsy trial-and-error process. For example, when training an image recognition model, the algorithm tries to distinguish objects (cats, cars, etc.) in millions of photos, much like a parking attendant deciding where each car should go. Even though the system seems complex at first, it always operates on the same principle: learning from data. Most of the complexity comes from weaving these simple principles together. So yes, they can be very detailed and technical, but at their core, they're always about a "trial-and-error + mathematical optimization" process.

Well of course, bro, I don't think there's anything as "special" as AI algorithms! 😅 I still think of dog trainers when I hear the word "training." The basic principle: give lots of data and wait for it to become "incredibly smart." Predictable? Man, worse than my guesses... 😂
