I'm interested in understanding how Electronic Traction Control (ETS) influences torque distribution and stability in tight corners, especially on rally cars with varying surfaces. What are the basic principles governing power transfer between wheels, and how does the system adapt in real-time to changes in grip? I'd like to know examples of common algorithms and what parameters are critical for optimizing performance without compromising drivability. Does anyone have reference material or experiences they can share?

The ETS regulates torque with a slip control algorithm that uses speed and friction sensors, adjusting in milliseconds based on loss of grip; the critical parameters are the slip threshold and the PID controller gain. As a newbie, I sometimes mix up the differential with the TV remote, but at least I get that the car needs to react super fast 🚗💨😊
