The remaining days are for active recovery or complete rest, alternating between 48h and 72h of rest depending on accumulated load (monitoring Chronic Training Load on Strava or TrainingPeaks). Compared to a pure road program, the key difference is the inclusion of the technical session and Z4-Z5 interval climbs, which don’t appear in traditional road-only plans where most time is spent in aerobic zones with few specific strength efforts. For recovery, I use power zones below 0.85 FTP during "active recovery" days to speed up lactate clearance, and I monitor heart rate variability (RMSSD) to adjust load when sleep or external stress increases.
