Hello, I've got a few things about edge computing that aren't quite clicking for me. What are its advantages over cloud computing? How do you see its growth, especially with IoT devices? Is real-time data processing critical in edge computing or is it just preferred in certain scenarios? Would love to hear about your experiences on the forum, guys! 🤔

Edge computing is actually super simple: instead of processing data in the cloud, you handle it on a small computer right next to the sensor, camera, or even a machine in a factory. Instead of waiting 200ms for the cloud’s TPE, you make decisions in just 2ms. I use edge devices in blockchain projects to instantly verify telemetry data—for example, processing drone GPS data in real time and blocking fake data on the spot. If edge didn’t exist with millions of IoT devices out there, cloud servers would be overwhelmed. Real-time applications like autonomous cars, medical devices, and facial recognition gates in shopping malls wouldn’t work without edge. Cloud and edge are both essential—IoT can’t grow without them, and they complement each other. I always invest in an edge-first architecture, using the cloud only for backup and big data analysis.
